Join us for the 10th Annual Buffalo Stampede Half-Marathon & 5K Races designed for ALL runners! These Chrono timed races use disposable bib tags on USATF Certified courses benefitting the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. All Sports Timing is conducting the race, and race results will be available at www.allsportstiming.com.

Course Details and Amenities

The Half-Marathon course is gently rolling, scenic, relatively flat, fast, and takes you through open country and past neighborhoods and parks. It has a downhill 2-mile finish, and offers you a great chance for a PR and a tune-up for marathons. The 5K follows the first 1.55 miles of the Half-Marathon course. Courses are out and back and offer a safe route well marked by Area Wide Protective. Cheer Stations will be along the route to encourage you, with cash prizes going to the first 10 stations and the top three best! The Course closes at 11am.

These are beautiful courses, well organized safe runs with water stops, porta johns, great running music provided by Stevo DJ, cool T-shirts for all, fabulous half-marathon finisher medals and custom buffalo age group awards, and post-race refreshments. Features of the race include: 10'x20' Jumbotron screen, social media & selfie station, New Republic Beer, new bib designs, great post race food, and lots of fun with Boonville Days Festival activities! Meet our celebrity starter and look for our Bison mascot and Live Bison! AFTER the race, enjoy Boonville Days, a heritage fair with chuck wagons, frontier skills, arts, and music. Festive Boonville Days activities from 9-4 are inside and outside the Museum and free to runners.

Celebrity Starter

We are pleased to announce this year’s celebrity starter, Uri Gevi. He is the CEO of Infinity VIP, a Social Media / Web Solutions Digital Agency that has helped such brands as the Dallas Cow-boys, Tennessee Titans, World Poker Tour, Zig Ziglar, Cal Ripken Jr, Dallas Stars, Harlem Globetrotters, Larry Fitzgerald, Greg Jennings, CJ Wilson, Deron Williams and hundreds of others via web solutions & social media creativity and integration. Geva is also the proud owner of the Brazos Valley Bombers, a summer collegiate baseball team that has been ranked in the top 30 for attendance three years running and has won the SBC '10 largest attendance growth. He has been serving as the President of the Texas Collegiate League since 2008 and has provided leadership in helping the league total attendance grow by over 80% in the last two seasons. KABOOM, the Bomber’s mascot, will also cheer the runners on race day!

Registration & Packet Pick-Up

Runners' packets and late registration will be available on Thursday, October 11th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, October 12th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Museum. Packets may also be picked up on race day beginning at 6:00 am. Race Day registrations will be accepted from 6:00-7:00 am, but prior registration is STRONGLY encouraged. Directions to the Museum are available at: www.brazosvalleymuseum.org. Entry fees are non-refundable; NO exceptions.

Parking and Race Day Access

The entrance to the Brazos Center from Briarcrest will be closed. You must enter the Museum's parking lot from the back of the Target shopping center. Follow us on facebook.com/brazosvalleymuseumofnaturalhistory.

Awards and Age Divisions

Overall male and female finishers beautiful unique buffalo sculpture trophies. Half marathoners receive unique finisher medals. First, second, and third place awards are given in each 10-year age group. Age-group awards are buffalo head trophies for first place and custom buffalo medals for second and third places. These awards are real, not plastic! Age-groups are: 12 and under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+.

5K Awards will be presented at 9:15 am (sooner if all runners are in). Half Marathon awards will be presented at approximately 10:15 am.

Cheer Stations

Cheer StationsTell your friends and family that they can create a cheer station to cheer you on the course! The first 10 Stations to sign up will receive $100 each plus a chance to win an additional $150 for first place, $75 for 2nd place, and $50 for third place. The top three stations are selected by an anonymous judge on the course. All entries receive free t-shirts and snacks! More details and signup are on the Cheer Stations page.

All registrants will receive a T-shirt, however sizes and availability are guaranteed by race day only for registration made on or before Wednesday, Sept. 5. Upgrades to Quick-Dry Tech shirts are available for $12 until Sept. 10th.


Event will be held RAIN or SHINE! If the event is cancelled due to dangerous weather, entry fees will NOT be refunded.

Course Regulations

No skateboards, bicycles, devices with wheels, or dogs will be allowed on the course with runners. Strollers will be allowed this year.

Post-Race Festivities: Boonville Days

After the race, enjoy Boonville Days, a living history fair of frontier skills, arts, and music. Festive Boonville Days activities from 9am-4pm are inside and outside the Museum. Runners registration includes free admission to the Museum!


NOTE: Online Registration entitles you to a $5 discount. Online registration will end at midnight on October 13th, although paper registrations will still be accepted.

Have fun helping the Buffalo Stampede Half-marathon & 5k race! You can have the opportunity to be a flagger, help with packet pick-up, pass out finisher medals at the finish line, help folks at our social media tent and selfie station, pass out food post-race, and more! All volunteers get free snacks, T-shirts, and post-race food. Many of the jobs can be broken into 2 hour shifts if you have friends who would like to help!

Museum Details

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is open to visitors Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm. Admission fees are: adults $5; seniors/students/children $4; Members and children 3 and under are free.
