Holiday Showcase 2016

Holiday Showcase 2013Tuesday, December 13th
5:30 -7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, December 13th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History will host the 7th annual Holiday Showcase!  Visitors at this free event can browse through the gift shop & Museum galleries, visit with authors and artists, and enjoy live music, wine, and hors d'oeuvres.

Live jazz music will be performed by Johnny & Lisé McNally and guests will have a chance to purchase beautifully crafted items for the Holidays.  Talented local artists will be available to answer questions about the artistic items on sale.  Shoppers can get in the Holiday spirit with this entertaining and unique experience!  It is also a great opportunity to view the Museum’s new exhibit: Shells: The Elegant Armor of Mollusks. This fascinating exhibit highlights the Museum’s own collection of exquisite shells, with many of them on display for the first time.  Stunning shells are artistically displayed along with rare books, fossil shells, artifacts, images, beautiful jewelry, and more.

Explore the biology and history of mollusks, while enjoying this exclusive display created in-house with the assistance of Texas A&M University’s (TAMU) Biodiversity Research and Teaching Collections; Cushing Memorial Library and Archives; and the Conservation Research Laboratory.  Other partners include: Texas Parks & Wildlife Department; Brazos Valley African American Museum; and David Gardner’s Jewelers.

Enjoy a unique holiday experience at the Museum on December 13th!
