VOLUNTEERING

The Museum relies on volunteers to fill many roles. Some volunteers work with the public and others work behind the scenes. Some volunteers talk to school children on field trips, while others do data entry, work on special projects, help with family programs, or fundraising events.

No matter what kind of task they do, the Museum staff relies on volunteers to enrich our Museum and our community.

*Please call the Museum to schedule an interview if you are interested in volunteering.

IRA Charitable Rollovers

Older Americans may contribute directly to the Museum from their individual retirement accounts, thanks to the PATH Act of 2015 which renewed and made permanent the IRA charitable rollover provision that originally began in 2006.

Matching Gifts

You may work for a corporation that offers a matching gift program of current employees, spouses, retirees and surviving spouses of retirees. A matching grant program may make it possible for you to double or triple the value of your contribution by following your employer’s matching gift procedures.

  • What is a Matching Grant Program?

    • You may work for a corporation that offers a matching gift program of current employees, spouses, retirees and surviving spouses of retirees. A matching grant program may make it possible for you to double or triple the value of your contribution by following your employer’s matching gift procedures.

  • How to Participate

    • Contact your Human Resources Department for eligibility information and to obtain a matching gift form. Enclose the completed form to us with your contribution. We will verify your contribution and return the form to your employer, who will send the match gift directly to the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. Some companies, like Exxon Mobil, will also make a contribution to the Museum for your volunteer hours with us.

Planned Giving

How can you leave a legacy to your community, one that will have a meaningful impact on a worthy organization? You may want to consider contributing to the long-term financial stability of the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History with a planned gift or making provisions for the Museum in your estate plans.
